A heartfelt thanks to all who participated in Musicathon 2010. Our music teachers were overwhelmed by your amazing support for our instrumental music and choir programs. The funds raised will help pay for festival fees, instrument purchases and repairs, sheet music, financial assistance, substitute fees and more.
Hamilton’s first music marathon wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of all the musicians who participated in the Musicathon after school, keeping the music alive for 12 straight hours! Our Young Musicians Concert provided a fitting end to the marathon, with a creative sampling of music from every genre. The concert began with a trumpet fanfare, and then featured an orchestra ensemble, singers, solos and Junior Jazz 1 and 2.
Congratulations to the groups with the highest percentage participation in the Musicathon for concert and jazz bands - Cadet Band (100%); and for orchestra and choir – a tie between Concert Orchestra (60%) and Symphonic Orchestra (60%)! Each of these classes will be treated to a pizza party in recognition of their achievement. Students who collected pledges of $25 and above will also receive gift cards.
Once again, thanks to all who participated in the Musicathon, making our first music marathon a success! Special thanks to our teachers, Ms. Mandojana and Mr. Rowe for coordinating the 12-hour celebration of music, and to the small team of parents who assembled pledge forms and packets, tallied donations, and distributed student rewards.
