Senior Jazz Band
This is the highest level of jazz ensemble at Hamilton and requires approval of Senior Band Director Dan Rowe. There will be emphasis on stylistic considerations through the jazz idiom as well as improvisational practice and performance. This group will attend several jazz festivals through the year and also participate in many school and district performances (see website calendar). Travel will be required.
Junior Jazz I and II
Junior Jazz is an after-school program that develops concepts in jazz styling and improvisation. The program is open to students who have at least one year of experience playing their instrument. Dan Rowe directs Junior Jazz I and Clarence Robinson directs Junior Jazz II. Junior Jazz will perform at three school concerts (November 17, February 9, and June 8) and one outside music festival (June 2). Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30pm. See Jr. Jazz Information Sheet below for details. The program will begin in September and conclude in June, with classes the following dates:
